An election was held in River ward on 5 May 2011 to elect two councillors.
Prior to the election, Labour held one of the seats and the Conservatives held the other seat. Following the election, the Conservatives gained one of the seats from Labour and held the other seat.
Craig Mackinlay and Andrew Mackness were elected as councillors for the ward.
