An election was held in Gravesend on 15 October 1964 to elect a member of parliament for the constituency.

The Conservatives won the previous election in 1959 with a majority of 2,162. At this election, Labour gained the seat from the Conservatives with a majority of 748.

Albert Murray was elected as the member of parliament for Gravesend.
