Next general election
Under the Fixed-term Parliaments Act 2011, the next general election is due to take place on 5 May 2022. However, a two-thirds majority in the House of Commons may vote for an early general election or, alternatively, if a government loses a vote of no confidence and new government is not formed within 14 days, parliament is dissolved and a general election called. Many parties announce their candidates well in advance of an election. Those who have been announced as standing in Medway's constituencies will be listed here, although this page is subject to change until the election has been called and the list of candidates has been announced by the returning officer.
