An election was held in Medway ward on 6 May 1982 to elect two councillors.

Prior to the election, both of the seats were held by the Conservatives. Following the election, the SDP-Liberal alliance gained one of the seats from the Conservatives and the Conservatives held the other seat.

Jim Hattersley and Ben Heffernan were elected as councillors for the ward.
