An election was held in St Margarets ward on 6 May 1976 to elect three councillors.
Prior to the election, the Conservatives held two of the seats and an independent councillor held the other seat. Following the election, independent candidates held one of the seats and gained a second seat from the Conservatives, while the Conservatives held the reamining seat.
Chris Nickless, Peggy Saxby and A. Clinch were elected as councillors for the ward.
