An election was held in Troy Town ward on 3 May 1979 to elect two councillors.
It was the first election to be held in the ward following a boundary review. the Conservatives won one of the new seats and Labour won the other new seat.
K. Horton and Ms. S. Jennings were elected as councillors for the ward.
