An election was held in Thames Side ward on 1 May 1997 to elect two councillors.
It was the first election to be held in the ward following the creation of Medway council. The Conservatives won one of the new seats and Labour won the other new seat.
Ian Peter Martin and Christopher John Fribbins were elected as councillors for the ward.
