The standards committee was responsible for promoting and maintaining high standards of conduct by councillors, co-opted members and church and parent governor representatives serving on the children and adults overview and scrutiny committee.

The committee was comprised of four councillors, six independent members and three parish council members. The committee dealt with requests for dispensations from members and parish councillors and also dealt with allegations of breaches allegations of breaches of the members' code of conduct.
