An election was held in North ward on 6 May 1976 to elect three councillors.

Prior to the election, all three seats were held by Labour. Following the election, Labour held two of the seats and the Conservatives gained the reamining seat from Labour.

D. Bird, S. Harris and D. Beer were elected as councillors for the ward.
