An election was held in Chatham on 30 May 1929 to elect a member of parliament for the constituency.

Unionist won the previous election in 1924 with a majority of 3,908. At this election, Labour gained the seat from Unionist with a majority of 776.

Frank Markham was elected as the member of parliament for Chatham.
