Gravesend By-election
26 November 1947
A by-election was held in Gravesend on 26 November 1947 to elect a member of parliament for the constituency after the Labour MP Garry Allighan was expelled from the House of Commons.
Labour won the previous election in 1945 with a majority of 7,056. At this election, they held the seat with a majority of 1,675.
Richard Acland was elected as the member of parliament for Gravesend.
