An election was held in Thames Side ward on 7 May 1987 to elect two councillors.
Prior to the election, both of the seats were held by the Conservatives. Following the election, the SDP-Liberal alliance gained both of the seats from the Conservatives.
Cyril Trice and Ms. A. Marsh were elected as councillors for the ward.
