An election was held in Holcombe ward on 7 May 1987 to elect three councillors.
Prior to the election, all three seats were held by Labour. Following the election, Labour held two of the seats and the SDP-Liberal alliance gained the reamining seat from Labour.
Robert Bean, Chris Stringer and Ms. M. Christopher were elected as councillors for the ward.
