An election was held in Mid Kent on 9 June 1983 to elect a member of parliament for the constituency.

It was the first election to take place in the constituency following a boundary review. At this election, the Conservatives won the seat with a majority of 12,543.

Andrew Rowe was elected as the member of parliament for Mid Kent.
