An election was held in Rochester on 24 July - 18 August 1837 to elect a member of parliament for the constituency.

Prior to this election, the Whigs held both of the seats. At this election, the Whigs held one seat and the Radicals gained the other seat from the Whigs.

Ralph Bernal and Thomas Hobhouse were elected as the members of parliament for Rochester.
