An election was held in Rochester on 29 July - 26 August 1847 to elect a member of parliament for the constituency.

Prior to this election, the Conservatives held both of the seats. At this election, the Whigs gained both of the seats from the Conservatives.

Ralph Bernal and Thomas Twisden Hodges were elected as the members of parliament for Rochester.
