An election was held in Gillingham North ward on 1 May 1997 to elect two councillors.
It was the first election to be held in the ward following the creation of Medway council. Labour won one of the new seats and the Liberal Democrats won the other new seat.
Adam Robert William Price and Robert Maurice Adcock were elected as councillors for the ward.
