An election was held in Rochester on 31 March - 27 April 1880 to elect a member of parliament for the constituency.

Prior to this election, the Liberals held both of the seats. At this election, the Liberals held one seat and the Conservatives gained the other seat from the Liberals.

Arthur Otway and Roger Leigh were elected as the members of parliament for Rochester.
