James Gascoyne-Cecil
4th Marquess of Salisbury
The Most Hon. James Gascoyne-Cecil KG GCVO CB PC is a former Conservative member of parliament for Rochester. He represented the constituency between January 1893 and August 1903.
In August 1903, he inherited the title of Marquess of Salisbury and entered the House of Lords as a Conservative peer. He remained in the House of Lords until April 1947.
During his time in parliament, Lord Salisbury served as lord keeper of the privy seal, leader of the House of Lords, lord president of the council, chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, president of the Board of Trade, and parliamentary under-secretary of state for foreign affairs.
Lord Salisbury has stood in three elections in Medway and won all of those elections.
