An election was held in South East England on 10 June 1999 to elect 11 members of the European parliament for the constituency.
It was the first election to take place in the constituency, which was formed from the merger of 11 single-member constituencies. The Conservatives won nine of those constituencies at the previous election in 1994, with Labour winning two.
At this election, the Conservatives received the highest number of votes, winning five seats. Labour won two seats, the Liberal Democrats won two seats, Ukip won one seat and the Green party won one seat.
