Rehman Chishti is the Conservative member of parliament for Gillingham and Rainham. He has represented the constituency since May 2010.
During his time in parliament, Rehman has served as parliamentary under-secretary of state for North America, sanctions and consular policy, the prime minister's special envoy on freedom of religion or belief, and the prime ministerial trade envoy to Pakistan.
Rehman is also a former Conservative councillor for Rainham Central ward. He represented the ward between May 2007 and May 2019.
In addition to Rainham Central, Rehman represented Gillingham North ward as a Conservative councillor between March 2006 and May 2007, and as a Labour councillor between May 2003 and March 2006.
Rehman has stood in five elections to Medway council, and has been elected on four occasions.

MPs' Expenses
All members of parliament receive a basic salary and some receive an additional salary if they have specific parliamentary jobs. Ministerial salaries are paid by a separate body and not listed here.
MPs are entitled to claim the london area living payment (LALP) to help cover the increased cost of living in central London, or otherwise claim accommodation expenses for a second property or hotel stays. They are also entitled to claim expenses to cover the cost of running their office (rent, essential bills and staff payroll) and essential travel.
